3D Camera Tracking is often the first step in connecting the real world with the digital one. More than simply recreating camera movement, it establishes the spatial foundation that allows CG, compositing, set extensions, virtual production and scene reconstruction to integrate naturally into live-action footage. Every production presents different technical challenges. Our 3D Camera Tracking work spans everything from straightforward production shots to vintage lenses, changing focal lengths, focus pulls, lens breathing, rolling shutter and low-parallax footage, while also incorporating specialised lens workflows, lens calibration, distortion grids, calibration charts, survey data, LiDAR and camera triangulation.
Whether working on commercials, feature films, episodic productions, virtual production or AI-generated and hybrid VFX workflows, every shot requires a workflow that fits the material rather than forcing the material into a predefined solution. Depending on the production, camera solves may be supported by lens metadata, on-set measurements, survey information or LiDAR scans to provide the level of spatial accuracy required for the shot.
Beyond accurate camera solves, our deliverables can include organised scene reconstruction, reference geometry, layout preparation and production-ready exports for Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Flame and other downstream applications.
